Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is the largest economy in Central Asia with rich reserves of oil, gas, and metals. The country promotes economic diversification, focusing on industry, logistics, and digital development.
Located between Europe and Asia, Kazakhstan is a key link in international trade. The government works to attract investment and improve financial transparency.
General Administrative Information
The system of administrative-territorial structure of the Republic of Kazakhstan is based on the national Constitution and Legislation. In accordance with the regulatory framework, Kazakhstan has several administrative division levels:
- Republican level: central government exercises the supreme power.
- Regional level (including the city of republican significance): Kazakhstan is divided into 17 regions and three cities of republican significance – Astana, Almaty and Shymkent. Regions have their own administrations that deal with issues related to regional development, economy, social sphere, etc.
- District level: Regions are subdivided into districts, which usually have administrative centers. Districts also have their own governing bodies responsible for regulating issues concerning specific territories.
- City (including city districts) and rural levels: Cities and villages are self-governing units on the territory of districts. Cities are divided into administrative districts (if such division is actual for the city), while rural districts cover the rural areas.
